ILLUMINATED ADDRESS: a fine illuminated address by W Williams of Sheffield, 1897, presented to one C H Howard on behalf of the Sheffield & District Teachers' Association, upon his promotion to the rank of Her Majesty's Inspector of Schools: decorative panel heightened in gilt and colours, approx 34.5 x 19cm, window mounted and glazed opposite a pair of oval photographic portraits of the recipient, the latter within ornately carved wooden surround, presented in morocco lined book box, the exterior ornately carved in relief, engraved brass locking mechanism and key: a lavishly produced Victorian illuminated address.
