Our History

Stride & Son are an independent firm of auctioneers located in the heart of the cathedral City of Chichester. The firm was established in 1890, originally holding livestock auctions in the local Cattle Market. We are now predominantly Fine Art Auctioneers with an enviable reputation throughout Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire, built on our principle of quality customer service. 

We moved to our present Georgian headquarters in the 1930s and despite the exapnsion of the business to now include Estate Agency and Property Management services we are still committed to providing an unparalleled personal service to all of our clients, utilising the expertise and experience of the firm’s qualified Chartered Surveyors.

Our firm is regulated by The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). We agree to uphold the RICS Rules of Conduct and all other applicable mandatory professional practice requirements. As a regulated firm we have committed to cooperating with RICS in ensuring compliance with its standards.
