A circa 1969 Rolex 'GMT-Master Pepsi' stainless steel automatic wristwatch, 39mm x 12mm, Ref. 1675, Cal. 1570, the 'Mark II' matt black dial having open chapter ring and 'Tropical' indices, 'Non-Quickset' date model, the later crown measuring approximately 5.1mm, on stainless steel Rolex 'Oyster' bracelet; the end links stamped '93150', '580' and with an 'A' to the clasp, to include a secondary Rolex style 'Lunette Noir' bezel, complete with original 'Trapeze' box, wallets and pouch, papers to include: Chronometer guarantee; purchase receipt; service receipts; together with a small group of vintage COMEX (Compagnie Maritime d'Expertises) 'patches'. (Serviced in 1996 and 2018).
Provenance: Purchased new circa 1971, this lot is being offered by the widow of the late owner Captain David Wells. Captain Wells started his diving career in 1972, training and working with Comex in 'Non-Destructive Testing' in the Southern Basin near Great Yarmouth. He also trained with Comex in 'Hyperbaric Welding' in Marseilles - later working in the Middle East as well as inner missions in the Congo, Pointe- Noire and Gabon. He also trained in 'Deep Water' Diving at Fort William, as well as being located in the North Sea and Norwegian Fields for 'Saturation Diving and Inspection'. Captain Wells also worked as a private and commercial pilot.
