The salerooms are open Monday to Friday 9am-1pm and 2pm-5pm please feel free to pop in during these times if you have an enquiry or wish to have items valued for possible sale.
Valuations
Written valuations for probate, insurance or family division purposes can be carried out at your home or at the saleroom, please contact the office to make an appointment. Our formal written valuation fees are £80 per hour (+ VAT) but this may be waived if the items are subsequently consigned for auction. Stride's offer completely free pre-sale valuations, without obligation, on individual items and collections at our showrooms, or by appointment at your home, or other premises.
Auctions of Fine Art & Antiques
We hold monthly auctions of approximately 1000 lots of fine art, collectables, antiques and furniture, which are consigned for sale from local estates and private individuals. The auctions are held on the last Friday of each month and the saleroom is open for viewing four days prior to this. We normally accept selected entries for sale during the first fortnight of each month. We reserve the right to inspect items prior to inclusion in auction, and we provide a free valuation and appraisal service for this purpose. Our rate of commission is 15% plus VAT (18% inclusive).
Auctions of Books & Collectors Documents
We hold bi-annual auctions of Collectors' Books, Documents and Ephemera. These sales attract a wide variety of interesting lots, sought after by private collectors, international specialists, museums and academic institutions.
Our book auctions are overseen by our consultant Barnaby Chiari, if you wish to make an appointment to see him at the saleroom or at your home please contact our office on 01243 780 207 to arrange this.
Recent items sold at these sales include a Lithograph by Edvard Munch of August Strindberg, which realised £15,000, an early edition of Don Quixote, dated 1617, which realised £15,500
Auctions on Site
We would be pleased to consider organising auctions at your own premises for large collections or businesses. Recent auctions include the antiques, objets d'art and rare books at a country house; the dispersal of the contents of a quality Chichester hotel; and the disposal of the contents of a private school.
