Our monthly fine art and antiques auctions are on view four days prior to the sale day ( Monday to Thursday ) and on the morning of sale. Catalogues are available from our office one week before the sale, or may be viewed online.
Bidding is by numbered paddles which are available at the auction office. Our buyer's premium is 15% plus VAT (18% inclusive).
Condition reports
It is strongly recommended that anyone wishing to leave a bid, who has not viewed in person, obtain a condition report. These can be provided by phone, fax or email. Additional photographs can also be provided for lots by email.
Commission / Absentee Bids
This is a way of bidding for an item if your cannot attend the auction. Commission bids can be left in person, by telephone, by fax, or via this website. We will carry out a commission bid on your behalf and endeavour to purchase the lot(s) at the lowest price possible subject to any other bids or reserves. In the instance of identical commission bids, the prior bid will take precedence. Please enter your bids in good time, preferably the day before the sale or in any case before 10:00am on the morning of sale.
Telephone Bids
If you are unable to attend one of our sales Stride & Son will be pleased to execute telephone bids on those lots with a minimum estimate of £1,000. Please note that acceptance of telephone bids will always be at our discretion. Since telephone lines are limited please make arrangements well in advance. We will only accepts bids on first come first served basis. Stride & Son will not be held responsible for any default or liability arising from executing telephone bids. We accept payment of accounts by cash, debit card, Mastercard or Visa credit card, although please note that credit card payments carry a small fee of 1.6% (plus VAT).
Lots purchased should be collected within seven days of the sale. For larger items please contact us for details of local carriers who can deliver your item.

UK Buyers:Delivery can be arranged through Parcelforce (we do not offer Special Delivery or Recorded Delivery services)

- Up to £100 compensation - £15.00 including VAT
- Up to £500 compensation - £20.00 including VAT
- Up to £1000 compensation - £25.00 including VAT
